Right Wing Terrorists

This morning CBN news ran a story on the report issued by the Secretary of Homeland Security outlining the perceived terrorist threat of so-called right wing extremists. It came as a surprise to me not so much the content of the report, but the fact that it would be made public. It really shows the times we live in. For years I had been told that "one day" we would be labeled as a treat, "one day" we no longer be tolerated in society and would be subject to government intervention and "thought police. Friends, "one day" is today. I truly believe that this is the tip of the iceberg. This short nine page report, which I just read, is only a first step to test the waters of public opinion, just to see if it will fly with people. thanks in part to the Patriot Act and other such legislation, once labeled a security threat, a person really has no rights.
Why does this concern us? The people who are described as potential terrorist threats are; firearms owners, military veterans, pro lifers, those against illegal immigration and those who oppose greater centralization and globalization of government. That short list includes my entire congregation and for about half of them, the entire list applies. Are we to be surprised at this sort of brazen attack on the character of conservative Christians? Not if we do as Jesus says and discern the signs of the times we live in. I realise the report does not single out Christians by name, it does however, target beliefs held by most us "bitter people clinging to their guns and God". I'm not calling for protests or any reaction except the actions Jesus prescribed. He is close, even at the doorstep. Get the gospel out while there is still time and remember when you see these things, "Look up for your redemption is near".
