I have been asked several times through my Christian life, "What makes your God so great?". It is a legitimate question. How can I expect others to serve and worship God if there is not a particular mark of majesty to Him. Many so called gods have come and gone through the ages so what makes YHWH so special? In my less mature days I would run down a list of all the things He has done. Now those mighty acts of mercy and love for His people certainly reveal a certain aspect of His glory but, that alone does not make Him worship worthy. If that is the case then Satan was right when he accused God of buying Job's devotion. Worshiping God solely because of the things He has done for us and the things He has given us is not worship of God but rather worship of his blessing which is idolatry. so much for the prosperity name it and claim it gospel.
So what is it that sets our God above all others? It's all in the name. I AM. Because I AM exist completely within Himself. He is God with or without worship or acknowledgement by anyone. Notice that when God answers Job, the answer to God's character being called into question is not the list of things He gives Job. The answer is that God exist completely outside the realm of His creations authority. He showed Job a small bit of his glory as the sovereign Lord of all things and Job's response was worship. He did not worship the things about God, He worshiped God! Job said, "I have heard about You but now, I see with my own eyes." He didn't have one of these popular God experiences of the charismatic post modern church variety, He experienced God in a close up, intimate was that inspires true worship of the one true God.
